Who is Doug Rogers?
Doug Rogers is a Canadian author, writer, YouTuber, and editorialist whose work is shaped by lived experience and an enduring interest in people, ideas, and the world around him. After nearly three decades in tourism and hospitality, including a long career with Rocky Mountaineer, he turned toward writing as a way to reflect, question, and share what a full working life and an active retirement have taught him.
His writing draws from real moments rather than abstract theory. Stories from a prairie childhood, lessons learned through leadership, and the quieter reflections that arrive with retirement all find their way onto the page. Humor and honesty sit comfortably beside insight, creating work that speaks to readers who value authenticity and thoughtful conversation.
In retirement, Doug’s voice has continued to evolve. His work now explores purpose beyond career, creativity later in life, and the shifting roles that come with change. Alongside personal reflection, he engages closely with current events and Canada’s political landscape, offering opinion and commentary through both written editorials and video. His perspective is grounded, conversational, and unapologetically Canadian.
Doug’s storytelling also extends into imaginative territory, where narrative, character, and curiosity take center stage. Across genres and formats, a common thread runs through all of his work: an interest in how people live, lead, adapt, and stay connected to the world around them.
Originally from Saskatchewan, Doug now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. Retirement has given him the freedom to write, reflect, and speak openly, while continuing to celebrate Canada and encourage thoughtful dialogue. Consider him a grassroots conversationalist with strong opinions, an open mind, and a genuine invitation to join the discussion.
Whether you arrive here for stories, commentary, or reflection, you are welcome to explore, read, watch, and engage. The conversation is always ongoing.
